Website updates on new server

1. Scripts upgraded to version 7.0 of ColdFusion 2. Microsoft non-standard ASCII characters removed from mnemonics. 3. Error reporting and contact updated to new server settings.

Server upgrade completed

Server has scaled to hosting at CrystalTech, which will allow for increased volume, and also new features and improvements over the upcoming weeks.

PDA software: Plucker Desktop, Clinical Exam

Over the last year, a new piece of software was written. It provides visual management for Plucker, the Free offline web-browser for PDAs. The software's website is desktop.plkr.org which has a screenshot tour, downloads, documentation and source code. This software provides an easy mechanism for medical education to make distributable content onto handhelds. There are no ads. There is no spyware. Just helpful software, that hopefully will be of assistance. A sample working example was also created, to demonstrate the usage of the software. It is available at www.clinicalexam.com. Feedback, as always, is welcomed. Feel free to drop a note with your comments.

PDFs now available with zipped option

Acrobat PDFs are available, and with a new zipped download option, as requested. Compression is significant at about five-fold, making a faster download for those with slower modems or have to pay for internet access by the minute. The zipped full version documents can now also fit on a floppy, allowing those who don't have internet access at home to download the zip file onto a floppy and take it to a home computer to print or view.

2001-2002 year wrap upgrades

A string of updates to end off 2001, and roll into 2002: 1. An icon added for address bar and window tabs in Mozilla. 2. Full testing on Mozilla. 3. User customization script upgrades. 4. As well as Newest Additions page, there is now also a Browse Updated page to look through entries in order of when they were last updated or modified. 5. In Add page, entering an ampersand symbol (&), less than symbol (<) or greater than symbol (>) will automatically convert to their written equivalents. This is so that new entries automatically have non-XML compliant characters removed.

August 2001 tweaks

1. Add mnemonic script patched for improved support of handling zero-length strings. 2. Link to People page added into text toolbar on all pages. 3. OS-specific download icons added to Palm Download page.

Summer 2001 upgrades

1. Home page automatically posts the time of latest update. 2. All static pages removed, leaving only their dynamic equivalents. A custom 404 created that will redirect back to homepage so external incoming links and bookmarks will remain intact. 3. Code fix so this news page scrolls backwards through the next 10 oldest records. 4. Interface tweaks for sharp Opera output.

May 2001 upgrades

AvantGo channel complete

AvantGo channel has been completed. The channel can be customized to load any or all of the website content onto a PDA having the AvantGo offline browser. Details and screenshots are available here.

Acrobat PDF, WAP versions complete

Printable Adobe Acrobat PDF ports are now complete. Abridged and unabridged versions are available each equinox/solstice, in either A4 or 8.5x11 page format. A WAP version for mobile phones is also complete. Entering www.medicalmnemonics.com/wap into the device will connect to the service.
